Top three New Years Resolutions to change your life


Ah, it's that time of year when you're taking stock at the end of one year and planning for the next. The typical activity is to reflect on your accomplishments of this year and then determine what needs to be done in the next. It is often one of those times when you feel a thousand emotions all at once, contentment for all you accomplished, frustration you didn't do what you set out to do or fear for what the future brings.


Here is my list of the top three resolutions that, I promise if you put them into practice, you'll find huge positive changes that create a better, more joyful and satisfying life. (And they are SO easy to do!)


1. Journal DAILY three things you are grateful for. Set aside a few minutes each day, say at breakfast or with your morning coffee, write down (find yourself a nice journal and write in it.....there's something about the connection of the brain and hand that works wonders). Do it DAILY, and notice how much more happiness enters your life as you come to recognize the smallest things that bring you joy. For me, it's the color of the sky, the blooming flowers, the shrill of children playing.


2. Get Outside - 30 minutes a day, take a walk outside, get your daily dose of vitamin D and get in touch with nature. Take your dog(s) with you, they'll really enjoy it. What this does for you is a few things, it gets your body exercised, your blood pumping and and it gets your mind in a more positive, less stressful space.


3. Meditate - if you're new to this idea look online for a simple 10 - 15 minute guided meditation to help you learn how to do it. As your meditation practice grows you'll find you are less anxious, less tired, and more in tuned with your confidence, joy, enthusiasm and self-worth. Often it's not easy to find the time to do this, but trust me, once you get into the habit, you'll find you really don't want to go a day without it.


So there you have it, three resolutions that are guaranteed to make 2019 one of your best year's yet. Did you notice how they focus on the mind, body and spirit?
